Words To Remove From Our Chiropractic Vocabulary

Just as we are adding words to our chiropractic vocabulary, words like “educational universal forces” and “foruns.” there are words and phrases that by virtue of our chiropractic understanding, we should be removing from our chiropractic vocabulary and our vocabulary in general especially as we speak from a chiropractic position. I have begun with five of these words/phrases for peer discussion, with more to be added by your suggestions and discussion. They include:

1. “Freak of nature”

2. “coming down with…” (fill in the blank)

3. “Catch…” (fitb any disease).

4. “Bad luck”

5. “Germs” (and the accompanying negative connotation).

If you do not understand or  you disagree, please give us your thoughts. Remember there is a right and wrong answer (and yours may be right and mine wrong). Contrary to what some think, I can be wrong and have even been known to admit it.)

  1. Better check on that educated universal force, I think Docteur Claude now refers to it as a modified Innate Force. Maybe it could be added for discussion at a later date?

  2. Another word we ought to stop using is wellness. I do wellness. You do wellness. The massage therapist is doing wellness. Kaiser Permanente is wellness “Thrive”. The pillow company is doing wellness. Wellness conjures up the picture of a person standing on a mountain top with their arms spread out, or someone smiling really big. These images are overused and I’m not sure they do a good job of really selling what we have to offer.
