Thought: Side-effects of Chiropractic

All drugs and procedures are required to mention their side-effects.  A side-effect is an unexpected or unintended result. For chiropractic, the expected/ intended result is the innate intelligence of the body being more fully expressed. That is all.  The side effects of chiropractic then, are positive physiological changes.  So,can we say that if your pain goes away or your blood pressure goes down, that it is a side-effect?  Perhaps we need to publish warnings to people that they may feel better  after an adjustment.

  1. Actually, they may also feel worse or feel no change at all. But whatever they feel will be just exactly perfect for them in that moment as it will reflect the power of the universes desires for their body. WOW!!

  2. WOW!! Indeed!
Joseph, you said it: “For chiropractic, the expected/ intended result is the innate intelligence of the body to be fully expressed. That is all.” Joe D. your observation is correct when you said: “Actually, they may feel worse or feel no change at all.”
Feeling good….. Feeling bad…. Feeling nothing…. is a game called the game of: Feeling good/Feeling bad/ Feeling nothing.
There is another game that we can choose to play and it’s called the game of: TRANSFORMATION!
It’s a game about CHOOSING to BE fully YOU and this can happen only when you CHOOSE to have a full expression of the innate intelligence of the body. For that to occur, you MUST CHOOSE to BE under regular chiropractic care of a Straight Chiropractor (mine is Strauss believe it or not) whose sole purpose is to practice the objective of chiropractic which is to locate, analyze and correct vertebral subluxations for a full expression of the innate intelligence of the body. It’s about CHOOSING to BE real, to BE authentic, in other words, it’s about CHOOSING to say YES to BEING transformed into who you are CALLED to BE!!!
It’s the ultimate game in the universe and boy do we need more players. Can YOU imagine yourself CHOOSING to play that game?
    Want to play anyone?

  3. Regardless of what someone says about how they “feel” we cannot take it to heart. We cannot take credit. We cannot take blame. HOW WE RESPOND to comments about how a person feels is most important. Our response can lead them to a greater understanding of our goal or it can throw them off course into a greater lack of understanding. I think it’s okay to say something that is middle of the road…like….”Hmmm, that’s interesting!”…..and SHUT UP!! Or, even better, SAY NOTHING. Would love to hear how others respond when their people say something about how they feel. Anyone??

  4. I remember listening to a tape of Reggie Gold talking and he mentioned “side effects” and said there was no such thing, but rather only “causes” and “effects”, not “causes, effects and SIDE-effects”.

So with that in mind, I don’t think that whatever, if any, changes occur that they are “side” effects, but simply THE effect. I agree with Joe D. in that whatever it was or was not, is exactly what it was supposed to be in that person at that point in time. Nothing more, nothing less and nothing else!

The effect of a better expression of “positive physiological changes”, which do occur, may indeed result in a perceived “negative” experience or “nothing” experience in terms of feeling/symptoms, etc. The practice member should be made aware of this. I think if we fail to tell them this, they will by default assume that we can, should or will be doing it for reasons other than our true objective.
