Q&A #16 Regular Chiropractic Care

  1. On the surface, this might seem like a good thing for the health and life of general public AND for the chiropractic profession. However, in doing so, implement even more governmental control into things they have no business interfering. More importantly, you remove the aspect of “informed consent” and freedom of choice and to me that is no different than mandating mass vaccination, demanding each person purchase health insurance or forced consumerism.

    • Excellent response, Michael. The only thing I would add is that if it is mandated it takes away personal responsibility which I think is necessary in an ADIO view of life.

  2. I don’t believe government requirement is good at all. I agree with Michael that gives too much control to them. Also, who’s definition of chiropractic/tor. My thought would be that if it were an Objective Straight Chiro then great, but what if this were mandated and the profession went down the path that the CCE is pushing? What other procedures would be mandated next?

  3. I agree with Michael. I believe it is our responsibility to educate our practice members so that they can make an informed decision. Coercion in any form is an outside in a solution.

  4. Actually, Dr. Hollensed, all of the Chiropractors HAVE agreed on checking for/and correcting VS; those who have not are something other than Chiropractors.

  5. Some government mandates are worthwhile, I say “All children have to be checked and adjusted until they”re 18”. At that point they should be able to choose for themselves. Just like alcohol consumption or military service age limits, some governmental influence makes sense. No I don”t think this is the best way, but can you imagine every child having unlimited chiropractic care for the formative years. It would change the future. Read BJ”s “It”s A Small Thing” and multiply that by 6 billion. To change a society you have to change the children. And brother we could use the change.

    • That’s pretty scary Steve. Don’t you think that there is greater liklihood that a government mandate would be more liklely to require all children to be vaccinated? Once you give mandates to outside-in thinking people, you are in big trouble. Can you name a government mandate that intereferes with individual freedom that is “worthwhile”. Where does the parents right to choose for their children come in. I think we may be close to government intervention in PREVENTING children from getting adjustments. Many in our profession would like that and they are the type of people who are or will control the state boards.

      • The restrictions mentioned above ie drinking age and military service, I believe are good. Don’t you? As I stated gov. mandates are “not the best way” but can you imagine, every child checked for nerve interference before they left the hospital and weekly for 18 years, CAN YOU IMAGINE the ramifications. No I don”t trust the government not to mess it up or even to do it for the right reasons, but that’s not what you asked. OIBU is not always bad. Teaching people to drink clean water is OIBU but still a good thing. Dr Sid once said “when subluxation is a household word like cavity we will enjoy the same prestige as the dentist”. Not every one goes to the dentist like they should but almost everyone knows where to go for their teeth. Dr Patrick Gentempo once ask if we would want everyone in the world to receive one adjustment or everyone to understand the subluxation. If a whole generation understood the subluxation AND was exposed to good chiropractic for the first 18 years of their lives I believe that would change things for the better.

  6. Understanding the concept of vertebral subluxation is not the same as mandated chiropractic examinations, regardless of age or motive.

Mandate one thing & it leads to another. Anything mandated will eventually be twisted into automatic approval for something else to be mandated. Someone, somewhere, in a position of power will then apply any mandate for their own, likely lucrative, ends.

A mandated drinking age or service age is not the same thing at all; there is no mandate to drink at all nor any draft.

Exposing a person to an idea or activity is next to useless if the person is not willing to perceive the idea or receive the activity.

    There is no silver bullet.

    • Everyone is afraid of the government, that was not the question. As for drinking age and service, our government protects children from those activities, and that’s a good thing. Yes I would still be in favor of care for all children, especially if it was not government controlled, but if that’s what it took so be it.
