rationale def. am explanation of controlling principles of opinion belief practice or phenomena 2. an underlying reason :BASIS The first and only rationale established by DD Palmer was that the cause of deafness was vertebral subluxation… until he found that some deaf people did not get well …but that other conditions did. Then his rationale was that VS was the cause of all disease until some did not get well. Then the conclusion was that either the VS was not being corrected or that there was another cause to the myriad of diseases not being cured. That lead to BJ’s quest for the cause, resulting in the development of the HIO rationale, by some and by other chiropractors to mix, attempting to find and address other causes. When BJ despite his many HIO adjustments died of a disease, chiropractors sought other techniques and still are today. Some of them are even suggesting that they have the technique(s) that unlike HIO are the answer to the cause of all disease. Occasionally, I have been rather harsh, unkind to them. For that I really should apologize. I do that because there is a rationale established by the principles that makes greater sense than the cause of disease ones and it is contained in the 33 principles, given to us by BJ and RWS. Rationalism is “reliance on reason as the basis for establishment of religious truth”. That makes deductiv reasoning the theological truth from which chiropractic is deduced. That makes the principles a creation of GOD, Who transcends “rises above goes beyond the (universe or material existence.” (Webster)
As per: “Rationalism is “reliance on reason as the basis for establishment of religious truth”. That makes deductiv reasoning the theological truth from which chiropractic is deduced. That makes the principles a creation of GOD”
Isn’t that the definition of deism?
Rationalism (deductive reasoning) carries the weight of the Authority and is recognition of that authority but it is Notthat authority just as the speed limit law along the side of the road carries the authority of the police officer and the creators of those laws/principles. What did BJ say “when man violates man’s law we point the finger of scorn at him, but when he violates God’s Laws we put him in a hospital and send him flowers.” Why do people ignore the 55 MPH sign but slow up when they see a police car along the side of the road.
Joseph,
You are absolutely correct. When the A-PRIORI statement is true and rational logic is used to deduce principles from it, the conclusion will be true… as long as there are no faulty reasoning. In the case of chiropractic, the conclusion of the 33 principles of chiropractic’s basic science is the chiropractic objective. The major premise being true and its 32 subsequent principles being true, that makes the chiropractic objective true. Therefore, the AUTHORITY of chiropractic’s basic science is its 33 principles.
If the MP is a deduction, then it must be based upon, but not being, a theological construct. However, if it is inductive then it must/can only be corroborated by another means of perception, empiricism. That is what Reggie taught (me anyway). Does the existence of matter demonstrates intelligent organization (at least for today it does… we will have to see what tomorrow brings). If you base the MP on a theological concept, and accept it as truth/fact, you can deduce from it.
