The one cause-one cure concept of chiropractic is still as Capra calls it, a reductionist viewpoint, part of the biomedical model based upon Cartesian-Newtonian thought. It may have been the original philosophy of DD but it is not acceptable in light of today’s information. In the broad sense it is still part of the medical model. That is because D.D. Palmer discovered chiropractic within the time of the rise of mechanistic thinking. However, as time went on, he, and later B.J., found that chiropractic did not fit into the mechanistic model comfortably. For some that did not matter and they stayed there. They are the non-straight, therapeutic chiropractors of today. Others, including B.J., had to find a new framework for their healing art. That framework is the ADIO philosophy.
