The difference between chiropractic and medicine has nothing to do with its method. It has to do with its basis. It’s basis is not:
1. drugless vs. drugs
2. conservative vs radical care.
3. natural or unnatural
4. OIBU v. ADIO
5. Recognizing and utilizing a metaphysical phenomena v. recognizing a material phenomena.
6. By hand only
7. ?
While all the above may or may not be true the difference is in its objective.
The medical objective, being the elimination of symptoms and disease, would seem to be Patient (client) motivated, meaning the patient seeks care or is cared for because of something that causes Patient suffering or concern.
The chiropractic objective being the arrival at the fullest expression of innate intelligence thru LACVS, would seem to be Provider motivated, meaning the CO must be defined, taught to the PM. Its value must be understood thru logic and explanation.
It’s paradoxical that the medical objective is OIBU, yet client seeking doctor, and chiropractic objective is ADIO, yet doctor seeking client.
As we define a profession by its objective, a profession is ALWAYS centered on its objective… whether it is medicine (treatment of symptoms and diseases to get sick people well) or chiropractic (LACVS for a full expression of the innate forces of the innate intelligence of the body. PERIOD.) –
– When someone enters your office, you have a responsibility to inform that person of the chiropractic objective. That is called a chiropractic orientation. If that person wants your objective, that person will begin care… if not, they will go somewhere else with a different objective than the chiropractic objective. That is WHY we say that TMITWDITO!
