You can have health and disease at the same time. First, health and disease as it is understood by the public are mutually exclusive. As they are understood by chiropractic, they can exist at the same time and in the same person. In all health professions they are mutually exclusive. Second, the vertebral subluxation (as we define it) is not recognized by medicine, the public, the government, or the chiropractic profession as a disease.
So… what is the point? How does the patient or public perceive the benefit of them going to a chiropractor? If the only benefit is a philosophical concept of being better off with, as you say, a good nerve supply, which is an intangible, unmeasurable and non-physical outcome…why bother?
There have been many references to ‘disease’ as a non-entity. That OIBU is a viewpoint NOT truely based on logic (deductive) and reality.
If this is the case, and I’m not sure it is, then what is being viewed under microscopes as altered (from norm) tissue (pathology), being treated and manipulated?
A Non-Reality? Perhaps disease is a Partial Reality (minus (missing) the immaterial), and therefore it’s response to an action of treatment (OI – mechanistic therefore applicable only to non living things) can only be somewhat effective, somewhat ineffective, somewhat dangerous, somewhat guesswork, somewhat fact.
