Our ADIO philosophy does not change the facts of the world but it may change how we view those facts and that can make all the difference in the world. That difference can only exist as long as we stay separate from the outside-in viewpoint.

Agreed. Staying separate is necessary. Necessary does not imply easy.
I’m learning that…
For instance, if licensing boards decide to move in the direction of outside in and determine that we must comply to remain licensed will there be any alternative?
Does anyone know how many states or provinces mandate diagnosis (not analysis) in the course of care for chiropractors?
Don, state boards have ALREADY moved in the outside in direction and ALREADY require licensees to play according to their rules. What the chiropractic licence allows is for one to practice anywhere along the practice spectrum allowable by their state. No state law mandates that one practice to the fullest extent allowable by their state laws providing they do so with good prudence. Obviously if one is going to treat disease, one MUST first diagnose the cause of that disease. If one is NOT treating disease then diagnosis does NOT come into the picture. Therefore one is not mandated
to provide a diagnosis for something they are NOT treating.
You ask if there is an alternative. Yes, Spinology has been in existence since 1980 providing essentially the same service as NTOSC without the restrictions of medical, ummm, I mean chiropractic licensure.
Tom, state boards are moving in the outside in direction.
I find that some therapeutically inclined chiropractors are arguing for the mandating of diagnosis in the name of patient safety. Diagnosis necessary in order to refer out for appropriate care. Not sure if it’s the same in your state. IMO.. Limited diagnostic ability is a dangerous game!
But I wonder if Policymakers/licensure officers will be swayed by this argument and at what cost to the NTOSChiropractor?
Don,
Re-read what Tom posted carefully, and use “good prudence for now…. until the legislators create laws that will FORCE you to interfere with your ADIO philosophy, Then it is you WHO will have to choose to BE a spinologist or to BE sent to jail for practicing OUTSIDE the mandate of the law. Many have gone to jail before for chiropractic and let their voices be heard. –
– It is simply the pattern of history repeating itself by the oppressed moving up the ladder of power and WHO choose to BE oppressors themselves. –
– A great NTOSChiropractor once said: “If you not out to change the world, everything else is Mickey Mouse!” –
– I say: Let us LACVS! PERIOD!
Dr. Lessard,
I would assume the goal of forcing this issue is to get all to comply but having everyone leave the profession to the therapeutically inclined would seem an even better option for them.
Either way, making a stand is not what they would expect and I agree, whatever each chiropractor decides to do to change the world, good prudence is always necessary when making a decision of what to BE. 😉
