The Treatment of Disease

The treatment of disease is always a hit or miss situation. “Alternative medicine” (which some mistakenly think chiropractic is part of) is not merely two alternatives to the same destination (objective). If one route is better it should be taken. But in going down that road, you do not know whether it will be better or worse. If, for example, you have cancer, there are no guarantees or promises in going either route (the allopathic or alternative). You may last longer or not. You may have a better quality of life. Or not. Either route may be better or it may be worse. So even with all the choices that we are being given and will be given in the future, relative to the outside-in treatment of disease, it is still a flip of the coin and take your chances. Aren’t you glad we don’t have to practice that way and don’t you feel sorry for those that do?

  1. When I was a disease treater, I talked like a disease treater, I thought like a disease treater, I reasoned like a disease treater. When I became an OSC, I put the treatment of disease behind me. I was happy to offer an alternative to medicine, now I offer an alternative to a diminished life, and I am happier!

  2. And besides the hit or miss prospect of helping the condition being “treated,” non-therapeutic care also eliminates the fear of doing harm.
