The Chiropractic Big Lie

  1. I’m a great believer in real Chiropractic. I think that the “Objective” Chiropractic, formerly known as “Straight” Chiropractic is the only Chiropractic. Anything else is a nonsensixcal sham.

    But…

Sorry Joe, but I can not agree with you.The flat statement you make is in my opinion a lie in itself unless you explain to the chiropractor what you mean. Just taking the statement bald faced, will have bad effects on the chiropractor who believes it and the practice he is trying to build.

In my forty six years in chiropractic I have seen patients who were given up to die suddenly “get well” within minutes after a proper chiropractic adjustment is given. I’ll bet that you have , too.

Patients would never come to you for care unless they felt that you could “get them well”. So making the statement that chiropractic is lying, about “getting them well” is counter productive. I feel that making a flat statement without clarifying what you are talking about is chiropractic suicide.

No doctor ever cures someone else. We all know that the body must do the curing by rebuilding it’self. However many patients are unable to do that unless a chiropractor reduces an underlying nerve interference.

In my opinion the best way to clarify chiropractic’s function is to clarify for the patient what health is …”A body whose every part is functioning as nature intended” and that “Chiropractic will make you
instantly, provably more ably functional (healthier).” Then prove it.

There are many function tests that you can use, and should use. Stand them in front of a full length mirror and have them note that one ear is carried high or forward of the other, one shoulder is higher than the other, etc.. Place them on bilateral scales, to demonstrate that they are off balance. And/or test the patient for obvious malfunction, such as being unable to turn the head left and right equaly or raise an arm without restriction or pain, or bend the knees equally (thigh tension test) when they are in the prone position. Adjust them properly and demonstrate the difference immediately post adjustment, showing that they are able to function better on some levels immediately after an adjustment.

Now explain, “While chiropractic can not cure you anymore than any other procedure can, it does something that nothing and no one else can do…make it possible for your body to function better, as you can see, and therefore to “get itself well” better. Don’t you agree that that makes sense?

Let’s not just give “in” platitudes to our fellow chiropractors, let’s help ’em build their practices.

  2. It actually drives me nuts that I don’t know how to market chiropracTic to the healthy mass.
Because chiropracTic is more about keeping the body well, than anything else (other).
Yet I have learnt only how to atract the sick and suffering. 19 years in the field, I want to paint a brighter future for humanity.
And it is not from treating the sick.
It is by strengthening the healthy 90%.
Love if you can give me some clues,

    • Hi Ronan,

First and foremost is for you to have solid orientation (Reggie’s orientation is on DVD and is by far the best). Then break it down visit by visit (2min.) EVERY subsequent visit. The key is to get a few members WHO get to accept the chiropractic objective. When they do, they will share it with others, regardless of their health. Be CONSISTENT! PERSEVERE! Most of all, BE HAPPY that you are doing it! Have fun!:)
