BJ wrote a small booklet in the early 20s, titled Reasons For My Faith. As near as I can figure the booklet was writtenin the earl 20’s about the time of the invention of the NCM and for the purpose of introducing that instrument to the profession. While I am not totally in agreement with his philosophy surrounding the instrument, I believe that on pages 20 through 22 in chapter XVIII he very clearly spells out the reasons for his faith in chiropractic I present it here to you for your understanding and discussion.

Reasons for my faith IN BJ and Joe Strauss from the Green Book Commentaries vol IV-XIV p91 by Joe Strauss
in part: ‘To BJ, it appears that health involved every aspect of the human experience and that the necessity for a person wanting health, to be aligned with universal laws and to be an expression of the intelligence of the universe. This broad sweeping vision of health would encompass what we today would include in the non-therapeutic model of chiropractic. Looking at the human body from the vitalistic viewpoint is a world away from looking at it from a mechanistic perspective. True progress in science is not so much in the discovery of function in the new awareness of the physical operations of the body, but in the ability to integrate that knowledge with the principal of life we call innate intelligence. The metaphysical is an important component of the human experience. Without the metaphysical, knowledge will be nothing more than the accumulation of facts which people can use for any purpose they desire, good or bad. ‘
This booklet gave BJs rationale for leaving the metric system approach and adopting the uc approach. The three reasons for his faith in making this shift were:
1. Uc spine has greates collection of affront and efferent fibers.
2. Uc spine is the most freely moveable, without Ossetia locks.
3. BJ claims to,have polled palmer grads relative to the results he was getting. He states that the DC is getting better results at 35% success than the DO, MD and Christian scientist who were all much lower.
BJ wondered why the Chiropractic approach was missing the 65%.
Bill,
Correct me if I am wrong. BJ’s 35% compared better results, than MDs and DOs and Christian Scientists, were basically based on getting the sick well. This means that the symptomatology of diseases were changing at the rate of 35% and the body was falling in line with the average physiology (BP, blood counts, heart rate, bile production, respiratory rate, etc…) arrived at by the knowledge of his time. Therefore, the missing 65% was most likely due to a symptomatology of adaptation of the e/matter of the body OR a lack of correction of VS, due to many possible factors (unaccepted educated universal force {adjustic thrust}, limitation of e/matter, etc…) BJ certainly dedicated his life to increasing the specificity of the adjusting thrust as demonstrated with HIO technique. In any event the metaphysical component of VS prevented BJ and all of us together, from assessing if the correction of VS was truly completed. This domain is the realm of innate intelligence and not educated intelligence. –
– One more reason WHY it is we WHO choose to practice the chiropractic objective which is to: LACVS for a full expression of the innate intelligence of the body. PERIOD. –
– This way of practicing levels the whole playing field. We don’t have to play the loser’s game of deciding which symptom is disease oriented and which symptom is adaptation oriented. LACVS and the rest will follow. đŸ˜‰
