It is important to understand the difference between the ADIO philosophy and the chiropractic philosophy. Chiropractic Philosophy includes the objective of chiropractic and the philosophy surrounding that objective. The chiropractic objective is the Location Analysis and aiding in the Correction of Vertebral Subluxation (LACVS). It is to enable the forces of the innate intelligence of the body to be more fully expressed. Nothing more, nothing less. A chiropractor could understand that and practice it without understanding anything more. Perhaps thousands of chiropractors have practiced that objective without understanding or even misunderstanding the philosophy surrounding that objective. Surely every TSC and some (therapeutic chiropractors-ThC’s) practice that procedure but they do not grasp the philosophy surrounding it. The philosophy surrounding it is best summed up in what Claude calls “chiropractic basic science” and most people refer to as the 33 principles although many of these principles cannot be demonstrated empirically or by the scientific method. But they do qualify under more than one of Webster’s definition of science:
1. a. A possession of knowledge as distinguished from ignorance or misunderstanding. b. knowledge attained through study or practice.
2. A department of instruction or knowledge as an object of study. B. sport–a technique that may be studied or learned like systematized knowledge.
3. a. knowledge covering general health or the operation of general laws or truths especially as obtained, learned through scientific method. So in the above definition, Claude is correct in calling the 33 principles the basic science of chiropractic and BJ was correct in calling a Green Book The Science of Chiropractic.. Chiropractic philosophy is part of an ADIO philosophy but they are not synonymous.
