Research Q&A #56

Are we trying to corroborate our chiropractic philosophy by research because of its weakness or its inability to stand as a deductive science? Or because we believe it is not acceptable to those in the scientific community, the health professions, the general public and many in our own profession?

Life and Death

Life is the expression of intelligence through matter. Death then is the lack of expression of intelligence through matter. That leads some to believe that the lack of expression means that life ceases to exist. Yet we know from our major premise (and P. # 2) that matter is still maintained in existence, still manifesting … Read more

Peer Review

In chiropractic you will never be effective if you care what the masses think or care whether they care what you think. Recently, in conversation, a chiropractor tried to impress me with his “philosophy of chiropractic” indicating that it was evaluated and accepted by hundreds of researchers, scientists, academicians and philosophers. My response was “so … Read more

Stupid Statements

“Certainly no ‘materialistic’ scientist would argue that life isn’t mysterious. However claiming that the mystery of life belongs in the world of the philosopher more than the scientist is ludicrous. Scientific study of life and life processes has given us more than he philosopher ever has.” Joseph H. Donahue, D. C. That’s like saying, the … Read more

On understanding the tactics of the CCE:

Sloppy Terminology

The Price of Gasoline and Chiropractic

Years ago Thom Gelardi made the statement that the closer professions get in their objective the more they resemble each other. When gasoline was $.25 a gallon automobiles had an individual and distinctive look about … Read more

Understanding our Role

The greatest knowledge we have as chiropractors is the understanding of how little we do in the “work of chiropractic”. The more we apply that knowledge in our attitudes, our explanation to the public, the more effective we are as chiropractors.

Response and Reaction

A response is the normal innate activity as a result of an abnormal situation. It occurs in the absence of or in the presence of vertebral subluxation. (Just a little better without vertebral subluxation) A reaction is the abnormal activity in the body due to limitations of matter which may or may not be the … Read more

Are You a Participant or an Observer?

Do you take an active part in the practice of chiropractic or are you just standing there as a bystander, observing what is happening. I like to think of myself as a participant in the adjustment, in the correction of the vertebral subluxation. I realize that I am not a major participant. The location and … Read more
