How? How do we do that last part while avoiding sounding like we treat particular diseases?
Back in 1974 when I was at Sherman, I learned from Reggie that when most of Chiropractic philosophy was developed, Chiropractic was thought to be a method of correcting the CAUSE of DIS-EASE. Then BJ pronounced that to correct the CAUSE of DIS-EASE is HOW “the sick get well.” So, in the minds of the majority of chiropractors, this translated into a misinformed chiropractic objective which stated that the objective of Chiropractic is “to get sick people well.” I DON’T know WHY… BJ himself never used or made reference to the 33 principles of chiropractic’s basic science in any of his writings. –
– Now that the perception of the public and the majority of Chiropractors is that Chiropractic is a natural alternative to Medicine, “to get sick people well without drugs or surgery” it is up to us to sit down in the swamp with every practice member and ALWAYS invent a relationship based on the CHIROPRACTIC ORIENTATION!!!! It is TRUE that the CHIROPRACTIC ORIENTATION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING WO DO!!!! It should ALWAYS be done FIRST, before anything else is done. It is called PRE-CARE ORIENTATION!!! That is the ONLY WAY to invent a NEW possibility that may RESONATE and MOVE the public from OIBU viewpoint to an ADIO viewpoint. Then and ONLY then, maybe, will the public’s perception undergo an evolutionary transformation… as long as the chiropractor keeps them engaged in this continuous CONVERSATION… pretty much the same way that some Chiropractors underwent their own evolutionary transformation because of COTB blog and Joseph B. Strauss, D.C. continuously providing information to those interested to evolve toward a “GREATER UNDERSTANDING OF CHIROPRACTIC.” Thank you Joseph. đŸ™‚
I think, Bryan we must clearly elucidate to the PM that chiropractic DOES NOT GET SICK PEOPLE WELL, it is the ii of their body that does it by perhaps enabling the ii to be expressed better. That is part of the chiropractic BELIEF SYSTEM and the first step in understanding chiropractic.
